PRESS RELEASE

Embargo 20th October 2017

On 20th October 2017, Government of Finland is celebrating 100 years of independence. The Embassy of Finland in Tanzania will commemorate this event by promoting tree planting in Tanzania, and  Ambassador  Pekka Hukka will officiate this event by planting a tree in his residence along Kenyatta road at  Masaki. The event will take place from 9 am and will last for two hours.

In recent years, the Embassy has been holding  some events here in Tanzania that showcase the Government of Finland's activities in Tanzania and areas which Finland supports as part of its foreign development policy. Thus this year's commemoration marks a milestone of cooperation between Finland and Tanzania.

As part of these celebrations, staffs from the Embassy of Finland in Tanzania, ENO and 4H civil societies, journalists from various media platforms and the Tanzania Forest Working Group (TFWG)- the implementer of Mama Misitu campaign - will join the Ambassador and the Government of Finland to celebrate the independence and advocate tree plantation as part of promoting private forest plantations for improved livelihood.
