Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) through Ardhi Yetu Project plus (AYP Plus) which is funded by Care-International in Denmark through Care International in Tanzania implemented in collaboration with HAKIARDHI and PAICODEO conducted a Stand for Her Land (S4HL) campaign partners meeting to review the campaign strategy. The dialogue was conducted at Stella Maris hotel in Bagamoyo on 13^th – 14^th November 2020, where it brought together the Secretariat of the Campaign, Objective leads and the members of the Task Force from partners organizations to share lessons and evidences from gendered climate vulnerability assessment (GCVCA) for improved implementation of campaign strategy and AYP gender centered strategic focus i.e. climate change and land rights.

The campaigns strategic areas of focus/ objectives are the following hereunder;

5. Address cultural norms to overcome societal barriers that prevent women to realize and claim their land rights whether through individual or joint matrimonial ownership, or through protected equal rights to communally owned land, including pastoralist communities;
5. Promote women’s use of land for economic benefits e.g. sale of produce from land
5. Increase women’s participation in decision-making bodies/structures and processes in land governance
5. Promote women’s land rights in regions with land-based investments

TNRF in collaboration with UNDP and Indigenous Community Conserved areas (ICCAs) Experts in Tanzania conduced joint monitoring, documentation and mentorship in the various ICCAs projects from 21-28 October 2020 with the purpose of providing technical support to the relevant ICCAs projects staffs, monitoring and documenting their progress in their respective project area The mission include making discussions with the respective project staff, district staff and thereafter making field visits to discuss with some project beneficiaries on the status of implementation and results of specific GSI-ICCAs support  project.  The Mentorship was to ensure ICCAs partners focused and familiar with the approach and processes of self-strengthening processes, and also Documentation of best practices, and case studies.

The Tanzania Natural Resource Forum is a national NGO which seeks to improve governance and accountability in Tanzania’s natural resource sector to achieve more sustainable rural livelihoods and better conservation outcomes.  As a member-driven NGO, TNRF works to improve policy and practice for the better, by helping to bridge the gap between People’s local natural resource management needs and practices; and National natural resource management priorities, policies, laws and programs.

TNRF thus intends to identify and enlist reputable and registered contractors and suppliers for:

Lot 1: Drilling of one borehole complete in Orkitikit village with separate troughs for human and livestock use in Kiteto District

Lot 2: Renovation of Nalangtomon Dam approximately 600 sq meters in NAPALAI grazing cluster in Kiteto District

Lot 3: Rangeland reseeding of about 10 Ha in NAPALAI cluster (Laalala, Ilera, Partimbo and Namelock villages) in Kiteto district

Lot 4: Supply of six Boran healthy breeding bulls for ALLOLE cluster (Lolera, Lembapuli, Amei and Lesoit villages in Kiteto District

Lot 5: Undertake scientifically guided bush clearing 16,000Ha in KIMBO cluster (Kimana, Mbigiri and Orpopong villages) shared grazing cluster with support from the community and District Council experts.

The Tunduru District Commissioner, Hon. Julius Mtatiro has officiated the National Elephant and World Rhino Day on 22^nd September, 2020 with a theme ‘’Human Elephant Conflicts’’ and ‘’Rhino Species Forever’’ respectively. The event was celebrated in Tunduru District, one of the two district in Ruvuma Land dscape with high Human Wildlife conflicts caused by elephants. Tunduru district lies in land scape with Black Rhino in Africa. Rhinos are such as an impressive symbol of strength, resilience and tenacity that it would be heart-breaking to have those traits disappear.

Prior to the event, Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) teamed up with Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA), World Wide Fund (WWF), Nyerere National Park, and Representative from District Council (Wildlife) and  some of the beneficiaries (community members, leaders) from the Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) like Ikona, Enduimet, Burunge and Serengeti National Park located in the Northern circuit to learn and share experiences on the role of communities in tackling poaching and Illegal wildlife trade in the WMAs under the Southern circuit. The team visited Misyaje, Majimaji and Hulia villages which have higher Human Wildlife conflicts to created awareness and it was observed that communities are really affected since their farms and crops are destructed by the wild animals. From the visit, it was also experienced that there are insufficient tools, weak man power and low understanding of communities on conservation as they don’t see direct benefits out of it due to lack of investors in the landscape compared with the Northern circuits.
